Statement from Congressman Ruben Hinojosa on Republican Refusal to Pass the Payroll Tax Cut Bill

Statement

"Due to a few House Republicans, Americans could face some major financial set-backs. While the Senate supported the payroll tax cut bill in a bipartisan manner, House Republicans decided to hold the bill hostage. If this does not change before December 31, 2011, 160 million middle-class Americans will see a tax hike, millions of seniors will not be able to see the doctors of their choice, doctors will see a cut in Medicare reimbursements of 27%, and unemployment insurance will end for 2.3 million Americans. How can a small group of Republicans cause so much misery for millions of Americans? Their opposition is a slap in the face to hard working Americans across our nation."
